The ongoing partnership fosters the development of the next generation of STEM research leaders.
(DALLAS) December 17, 2024 – UWorld, a leading provider of learning tools for high-stakes exams, announces the company's continued partnership with the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence Foundation, remaining the foundation's sole private sector partner for the second year.
Through UWorld's philanthropic arm, UWorld Cares, the company is donating over $70,000 in grants and product scholarships, which the foundation will utilize for one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious undergraduate scholarships, supporting future research leaders in STEM fields.
UWorld's donation gives best-in-class resources for the 2025 cohort of Goldwater Scholars. As part of the ongoing partnership, UWorld will provide some Goldwater Scholars pursuing a M.D./Ph.D. access to its MCAT QBank and newly released MCAT UBooks which include six print and digital MCAT science review books with high-impact visuals and two annotated CARS review books. Eight Goldwater Scholars will also receive access to UWorld's USMLE Step 1 QBank. These resources will assist scholars as they prepare for their graduate school entrance and professional licensure exams that serve as crucial checkpoints for their future success.
"Investing in these talented individuals is a critical investment in the future of STEM," said Dr. Chandra S. Pemmasani, UWorld's founder and CEO. "We believe our support of Goldwater Scholars will help them achieve their goals in pursuing a medical career and significantly contribute to their fields."
For over 38 years, the Goldwater Scholarship Foundation has fostered the development of future research leaders in STEM fields by identifying and supporting exceptional college sophomores and juniors. The foundation has awarded over 10,000 scholarships, providing crucial financial assistance to promising young scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, with many Goldwater Scholars going on to earn prestigious awards like the Rhodes Scholarship, NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and the Astronaut Scholarship, ultimately pursuing PhDs.
"The Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is pleased to continue its partnership with UWorld for a second year to support this Nation's next generation of medical science research leaders," said Dr. John Yopp, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. "UWorld’s 2025 donation of over $70,000 in grants and product scholarships provided through its philanthropic arm, UWorld Cares, helps ensure that additional students can pursue their M.D./Ph.D. research career dreams and that the nation will have the research talent it needs to compete globally,” Yopp continued.
Since initially partnering with the foundation, UWorld Cares has provided $140,000 in grants and product scholarships to support Goldwater scholars. The partnership underscores UWorld's commitment to driving success in education by investing in the communities it serves through its company-wide philanthropic efforts. Since 2020, UWorld has provided $12.8 million in product scholarships, facilitated over 2,200 employee volunteer hours and generated over $500,000 in combined company and employee donations. Through these efforts, the company has collectively served over 100,000 youth in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, established by Congress in 1986, serves as a living memorial to honor the lifetime work of Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman. The Goldwater Scholarship Program seeks to identify, encourage, and financially support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming this Nation’s next generation of research leaders in these fields. Over its nearly 40-year history, Goldwater scholarships have been awarded to over 10,000 undergraduates, many of whom have gone on to win other prestigious awards like the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Fellowship, Rhodes Scholarship, Churchill Scholarship and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. Today, Goldwater alumni can be found conducting research that is finding cures for catastrophic diseases, defending the Nation, and teaching future generations of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.
